Video Message from Rev. Allison 3.16.2020

Dear UU Nashua friends,

It felt so good to be online together for worship yesterday. Though you didn’t know it, my family and I were listening in by phone and hearing the beautiful service that Sadie and Ben put together, and a few moments of your voices warmed my heart in this difficult time. It really is true what we say each week: that we are connected, even when we are apart.

Your staff met today and came up with plans to remain connected over the next few weeks, even as we continue to be physically apart. Following the guidance of our Unitarian Universalist Association and our local officials, we are suspending all in-person activities until at least April 6, and encouraging all of you to practice social distancing as much as you are able.

Luckily, in this age of technology, social distancing does not mean social isolation! We are planning to offer these weekly ways to connect on Zoom over the next few weeks:

  • Monday open office hour with Rev. Allison @ 11am: drop in to chat with Rev. Allison and anyone else who shows up https://zoom.us/j/965790067
  • Monday parents check-in with Sadie @ 8pm: put the kids to bed–or set them up with a distraction–then gather with other parents to check in: https://zoom.us/j/909774576
  • Tuesday playdate for ages 0-4 with Rev. Allison @ 11am: gather to share stories, songs and games with our little ones https://zoom.us/j/805287018
  • Wednesday “Eat, Share, Learn” with Rev. Alison & Sadie @ 12pm: join us for a check-in and conversation as you eat your lunch https://zoom.us/j/964790237
  • Thursday Family & Kids Check-in w/ games for elementary ages with Sadie @ 2pm: gather for games and stories https://zoom.us/j/101786232
  • Friday open office hour with Ben @ 5pm: drop in to chat with Ben and anyone else who shows up (Zoom link to come!)
  • Saturday Youth online games & check in with Youth Advisors @ time TBD: a time to gather for youth ages 6th-12th grade (Zoom link to come!)
  • Sunday worship for all ages @ 10am with Fellowship breakout groups afterwards https://zoom.us/j/606344193

All of the staff are also available to meet one-on-one by Zoom or over the phone. Just reach out if you’d like to talk!

Many of our pre-planned events are also moving online, including:

Another way to feel connected during this time is to support one another. I know some of you have already asked if there are any needs in the congregation. Our UU Cares listserv is a perfect place for put out requests if there is anything you need at the moment (toilet paper? baby wipes? someone to do a grocery run?). Anyone who is on the list can send a message to uu-cares@uunashua.org. Please email Sherri uucnoffice@uunashua.org  if you would like to be added to the UU cares listserve. It is moderated, but Sherri and I will do our best to stay on top of approving emails.

I’m sure we will find many more ways to stay connected over the coming weeks. I’ve already been enjoying your fabulous photos in our facebook group – keep them coming! Our members and friends facebook group is called “UUCN Members and Friends” if you would like to join. We need one another, now more than ever, and if there is one thing I know about this community, it is that you show up for each other. And I know we will keep showing up – by phone, Zoom, email, text and more.

I’m holding you all in love as we navigate these new waters.

Love & blessings,

Rev. Allison
