If you have been attending UUCN such that you think of us as your spiritual home, it is time to consider membership. We ask that you take our Intro to UU class and have a few other experiences that will benefit newcomers: Exploring Membership and our Tour/Q&A with the Minister. Registration is required to take the Membership Class which is offered in the fall and spring. Feel free to speak with our Minister or the Church Administrator to register or to ask any questions you may have.
Newcomer offerings:
Intro to UU – You are invited to join the Minister and representatives from our Membership Team in learning about the origins of Unitarian Universalism as Christian heresies of the 3rd and 4th centuries, through current day Unitarian Universalism. Also, learn about the history of this congregation in the context of Nashua history.
Exploring Membership: Membership classes are offered in the fall, as well as in the spring. This 90 minute class is meant to help you discern what it means to join our church. We hope to get to know you, hear about your spiritual journey and assist you in learning about the rights, responsibilities, and benefits of membership. At the conclusion of this class, you may choose to sign up for a personal meeting with the Rev. Allison in order to officially sign the book, a UU tradition for membership.
In order to be eligible to vote on matters that come before the entire church, our by-laws state that a member must have submitted a pledge form within the last two years and contributed toward the stated amount on the form, and have been a member for three months prior to a “voting meeting”. Our Annual Meeting is one such “voting meeting” and it is held the first Sunday in June.
Members are also expected to get involved and share in the life of our church. During your first year, we ask that you jump in and try many different offerings, such as Adult Faith Formation classes, serving on a team such as the property team, or provide a welcoming presence as an Usher/Greeter on Sunday mornings.
