Why is the church so special?

I promised I would answer some of the unanswered Question Box questions (from January 3) here on our church blog. I’d like to start with one from one of our younger members (age 7). She asks: “Why is the church so special?”

There are a lot of reasons that our church is a special place, but above all, it’s the people here who make it special. It is the attitude of love and service that you all bring to this place—the welcoming spirits, the caring hearts.

When we think about what makes a church, often we think first of the building or the minister or staff. We do have a lovely building, but it would be empty and dull without people to fill the views. Our staff does work hard to make UUCN run smoothly, but nothing we do would matter if we didn’t have a community to serve.

To me, church is always people first, anything else second. You bring the beauty, you bring the magic, you bring the love that makes this church special. You do this with your presence, with your dedication, and with the gifts you bring to this place.

Thank you for making this place so special that even our youngest members know it to be so.

Blessings,

Allison
