Announcing Building Our Vision Design Task Forces

The UU Nashua Building Our Vision (BOV) team is launching several design task forces and you are invited to participate. We have engaged the design firm, Dennis Mires, P.A. “The Architects” to guide us through the process of translating our vision statement into several proposed designs.  We are focusing on five key design areas and are launching a design task-force for each. They will be led by a member(s) of the core BOV team. Their purpose is to allow a broader slice of our church to work directly with the architects and help develop compelling designs that work well for our whole church community. We estimate that your task force participation will last 4 to 6 months. Members will participate in periodic meetings with the architects and other task forces to review and critique various possible design proposals. 

The five task forces are listed below. Also shown are some possible design concepts that may be considered.   

1)    Main Entry (Victoria Agnew, Lindsey Hedrick)

  •     Accessible unified main front entry
  •     Improved accessible exterior walkways & stairs
  •     Expanded Vestibule / Narthex allowing direct access to White Wing and the Parish House 

2)    Sanctuary (Jon Lasselle)

  •   Redesigned more functional and accessible Chancel
  •   Enable more flexible use of the Sanctuary 
  •   Enclosed courtyard with skylights between Sanctuary and Parish House

3)    White Wing Building (Jess Woods)

  •   Lower level accessibility
  •   Secure access to all church buildings from Grove Street parking lot. 
  •     Redesigned primary offices & accessible, gender neutral restrooms

4)    Parish House (Rick Spitz)

  •   Possible interconnects to Main entry, Narthex, and courtyard 
  •   Redesigned more useful upstairs auditorium 
  • Redesigned upstairs gender neutral restrooms

5)    Energy Efficiency & Sustainability (Frank Grossman)

  •   Improved building envelope & windows for energy efficiency 
  •   Sustainable and efficient heating and air mechanical systems 

 If you are interested in participating in one of the design task forces, please send an email to bov@uunashua.org. If you have a strong preference for a particular area, please indicate it.
