Which Christmas Eve Service is right for me?

Christmas Eve is right around the corner and we’ll be celebrating in style here at UUCN. We’ll have two Christmas Eve Services this year, one at 7pm and one at 10pm.

The 7pm service will be a traditional Christmas Eve service, with a no-rehearsal pageant (contact Sandra if your child wants to participate!) and music from our Christmas Eve Choir (contact Jed or Geri for details).

The 10pm service will be a contemporary style Lessons & Carols, with some jazz and folk music mixed in with the traditional carols, and some readings with more modern themes.

Still unsure which one is right for you? Read on for some FAQs!

I am bringing children. Which service is right for me?

Children are welcome at both services! If you have young children, the 7pm service might be more fun for them as the no-rehearsal pageant will be easy to understand for even the youngest.

My favorite part of the service is the candle lighting. Will we be doing that this year?

Yes! Both services will include the traditional passing of the light and singing of “Dona Nobis Pacem” and “Silent Night.”

Is the 10pm service going to be contemplative?

Neither service will be specifically contemplative, but both will include moments of calm and time to appreciate the beauty and wonder of Christmas Eve. The 10pm service this year will include some more contemporary elements to offer something a little different from the traditional 7pm service.

Whichever service you choose, I hope you will join us to celebrate the birth of hope and love on December 24!

Blessings,

Allison
