Celebrate 200 Years of UU Nashua
In September 1826 a group of Nashuans met to form the First Congregationalist Unitarian Society of Dunstable. The following June, many gathered to consecrate their
new meeting house on Lowell Road.
In 1835 the First Universalist Society of Nashua was formed and their church on the corner of Main Street and East Pearl Street dedicated on January 1 st 1839.
This 2026/2027 church year we gather to celebrate, honor and learn from our founders and the 200 years that have followed, and to look forward to the future strengthened by the knowledge of our history.

Join us for a full year of fun events:
200th Anniversary Kickoff Celebration
Sunday, September 27th 10am-2:30pm
We’ll kick off our 200th anniversary year with a special worship service, a potluck lunch and party, and historical walking tours.
10am: Celebratory Worship Service in the Sanctuary
We’ll explore our history, imagine what it was like to be our spiritual ancestors back in 1826, hear a new Bicentennial Anthem from our choir, and wonder together about what we may become in the next 200 years.
11:15am: All Church Photo outside in front of the church
It’s been a few years since our last church photo and a lot has changed! Everyone is welcome to join for a new photo outside the front of the church right after the service. Please note that this photo will be used on our website and social media.
11:30am-1:30pm: 200th Anniversary Potluck & Party
A 200th Anniversary is a lot to celebrate! Join us for a potluck lunch, games and activities for all ages, history displays, a chance to contribute to our UU Nashua Stories Project, and a dessert spread to be remembered with 200 cupcakes!

12:45-2:30pm: Historical Walking Tours of Downtown Nashua
We’ll visit sites around downtown Nashua that have been a part of Unitarian, Universalist and UU history. We’ll also explore how the church was an integral part of early Nashua history.
We are limiting each time slot to 15 people for ease of navigation. All tours will start in front of the church at 58 Lowell St in Nashua. Children and youth are welcome to join the tours. There will be childcare available for younger children during the tours if requested.
Celebrating 20 Years with Jed Holland as our Music Director!

In the midst of our Bicentennial, we get to celebrate another anniversary: Jed Holland will have been UU Nashua’s Music Director for 20 years in January and we are throwing a party!

An elegant afternoon of finger sandwiches and desserts. You are invited to dress in 1820s period garb!
Building Anniversary & End of Year Party
Sunday, June 13, 9:30am
We’ll close out our year with another special service and party. Anyone who wishes can start the morning with a walk from the Nashua Historical Society to the church, mirroring the walk that our UU Nashua ancestors took when the building was first completed in 1827
